Hike in price of Petrol and Diesel saw huge queues at the petrol stations across the state on Sunday. Petrol and diesel prices were increased on Sunday, the fifteenth straight hike since state-owned oil companies returned to the normal practice of daily reviews following a 12-week pause. The rate of diesel in Delhi touched a new record high, while petrol was at a two-year peak. While the price of petrol was revised to Rs 79.23 per litre in the national capital from Rs 78.88 per litre the previous day, the diesel rate was increased to Rs 78.27 per litre from Rs 77.67 per litre. While in Goa Petrol will now cost ₹79.22 and diesel ₹76.24 per litre. According to notifications from state-run Indian Oil Corporation, the country's largest fuel retailer.
In India, petrol prices are revised by the oil marketing companies like Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum based on the international prices. So, when international crude oil prices gain, petrol prices in India move higher and so on. On the other hand, if crude oil prices in the international markets drop, we see a fall in daily or today's petrol prices in India.
