The Union Environment Ministry has cleared the way for a public hearing to be held of the long pending Resis Magos – Panaji ropeway, a project of the former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar.

The project will provide facilities for recreation and entertainment, tourism activities such as a Gondola restaurant, 4D aquarium, zip line, and revolving restaurant. M/s Royal Rides Private Limited is the concessionaire and Darashaw & Company are the consultants for the project.

The MoEF then wants the draft EIA report to be submitted to the Goa State Pollution Control Board.

The proposal was placed before the 45th Meeting of Expert Appraisal Committee. North Goa Planning and Development Authority has given approval to build the rope way project with a 40-metre high tower as far back as 2018.

The length of the ropeway will be 1.24 km which will incur cost of Rs 160 crore. In 2017, the Town and Country Planning (TCP) department’s conservation committee had accorded the clearances.

The land acquisition for the project has already been completed.
