Goa’s Feni & Mankurad to be sold across air ports

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu on Monday said that Goan fruits such as cashew including Cashew feni and mankurad mango would be soon available in Geographical Indication stores across all airports in India.



 GI is a sign that proves that products are from a specific geographical location and are of standard quality.

Product can include agricultural products, foodstuffs, wine or spirit, handicrafts and industrial products. 

Geographical Indication store, a first of its kind in the country was launched at Dabolim Airport on Monday the union Commerce minister in the presence State Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar.

Such stores promote local products and talents such as artisans and handicrafts.

This will also  help Self Help Groups and entrepreneurs.     

Tourism Minister Babu Azgaonkar said Cashew Feni is the first local Goan product to be showcased in the Dabolim GI store.
