Twenty one nationalized banks had been issued notices to give Leave and License agreement copies of their premises within seven days

This was to check the amount of property tax to be paid.

However, none of the banks have complied.

Now a second reminder will be issued.

And in case this time too they do not comply, then action including sealing of banks will follow, the chief officer Murmugao Municipal council chief officer Agnelo Fernandes told Goa 365.

This action has resulted after a two year effort put in by International Human Rights Protection Council's Yusuf Khan.

He had showed the MMC how property tax was being evaded by nationalized banks in Vasco.

He told Goa 365 that banks pay rent in lakhs to owners of premises, but on paper they only show a few thousands or rupees as rent.
