Covid cases in India and Goa rising

Only few days are remaining for the nationwide lockdown to complete one year. However, after an initial dip, the covid situation in the country is worsening.



 In the last 24 hours India reported almost 40,000 cases, the highest spike in cases this year.


Meanwhile, cases in Goa too are as State had reported 100 covid-19 cases in last 24 hours on Friday.


As many as 39,726 more people tested positive for Covid-19 across the country in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to 1.15 crore.


This is the highest number of fresh infections recorded since November last year.


Over the past five days India has seen the sharpest surge in Covid-19 cases.


Maharashtra continues to be the biggest contributor in the daily count as the state saw 25,833 new infections in the last 24 hours.


*Covid-19 death toll reaches 1,59,370, with 154 deaths in the last 24hrs

*20,654 recover from Covid-19 in last 24hrs taking total recoveries to 1.10 crore

*Active cases stands at at 2,71,282

*Active cases were 2,52,364 on Thu & 2,34,406 on We.

*79.54% of the new cases are from Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat & Tamil Nadu


Along with India, the cases in Goa too are rising .


On Friday Goa reported 98 covid-19 cases out 1998 tests marking more than 6% daily cases.


However, the government seems not to be much bothered as there are no tests on tourists coming from covid hotspots states. These are seen roaming in Goa without masks.


Also there is no enforcement on wearing of masks and social distancing by the authorities.


However, after some pressure, on Thursday, the entire premis of Ritz Classic restaurant at 18 June road in Panaji was sealed by district administration after some of their customers tested positive for covid-19.
