India reported 1,14,460 new corona virus cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest single-day rise in two months. The country also reported 2,677 deaths in the last 24 hours. While, 16 deaths were reported in Goa.



 The total number of cases has reached 2.88 crore, while the death toll has surged to 3,46,759. Out of total cases 14,77,799 are active.


 The state level curfew has been extended for more 7 days - till 14 June. However, there have been some relaxations. The  timings of the shops selling essential items has been extended till 3 pm. In addition, shops related to house, building repair materials, monsoon preparedness& stationary items will be allowed to be kept open,  Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced.

 

Meanwhile, the  chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who chaired the task force meeting held a couple of days back, said experts from state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital would begin training 120 paediatricians and a large number of nurses from Monday. He said that the required equipment to set up Paediatric ICUs will arrive in the state by June 10 and the GMC's Super Speciality Block would be the main centre where these facilities would be set up.

  The education department on Saturday directed all its affiliated academic institutions to provide information about the students who lost either one or both their parents due to coronavirus. Also All teaching and non teaching staff have been asked to report to work by the directorates of education and higher education. However, no students will attend and classes will continue online.
