Lights Camera Action, IFFI 51 begins

Sound, Lights, Action. The 51st edition of International Film Festival of India was inaugurated on Saturday. This edition of IFFI is being held under the shadow of the corona virus and in a hybrid format. The festival was inaugurat. Cinematographer Vittorio Storaro has been selected to receive the Lifetime Achievement awards and Bangladesh, is this year’s ‘Country of Focus’.



This IFFI, the event despite the travel restrictions and bans will have celebrated film directors from world cinema, including Argentina’s Pablo Cesar, Prasanna Vithanage from Sri Lanka, Abu Bakr Shawky Austria, Priyadarshan and Rubaiyat Hossain Bangladesh. A total of 224 films will be screened under different sections at the 51st edition, 15 of which will compete for the Golden Peacock award.




Union Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that the Multiple Academy Award-winning cinematographer Vittorio Storaro will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at the ceremony and Indian Personality of the year award will be awarded to actor/director/producer Vishwajeet Chatherjee.


The festival will also pay homage to actors Irrfan Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rishi Kapoor and Hollywood star Chadwick Boseman among 28 other artistes from world cinema by showcasing their films.
