Shigmo festivities on, Corona virus hampers celebrations at few places

Shigmo festivities in Goa have continued with fervor and enthusiasm. However, at some places the Shigmo has got canceled due to fear of Corona virus. The Shigmo samittees have decided not hold Shigmo parade keeping people's health in mind.



Kamakashi Temple at Shiroda has canceled the religious ceremonies scheduled from 23 till 25 March.


The Samittee has informed people not visit temple and also there would be no mahaprasad.


Mormugao Shigmo Samittee was earlier surrounded with controversy over the appointment of two presidents. Now, this Shigmo is facing cloud of Corona virus.


The samittee has decided not hold Shigmo parade.


The Shigmo was planned on 18 March.


MMC chief officer took decision after consulting with Shigmo samittee. The samittee has demanded that government should compensate float makers as their floats won't be put up on display.

Annual Shishirotsav was celebrated at Khorlim in Mapusa with fervour and cultural programs. Gulal was also celebrated on the occasion.


The locals of Sautawaddo Calangute celebrated its traditional Dhulwad with enthusiasm. Sauntadkars went house to house playing Romat.


Margao Shigmo Samittee in association with Tourism Department organised Shigmo with various cultural programs.


Samittee had organised Fancy Dress, folk dance, romatamel and chitrarath competition. The Shigmo parade started at Colva circle and ended at Dambab Linga.
