Shridhar Kamat no more

Goa’s young poet, social activist and theatre personality Shridhar Kamat passed away on Wednesday after brief illness. He has donated his body to the Goa Medical College Hospital. He was 54.



Shridhar Kamat was a multifaceted personality.

Though an engineer by profession, he has written several dramas, one-act plays, poems and also songs for Konkani films.

He was the first vice chairperson of Madgao Ravindra Bhavan and was the co-convenor of Goa Bachao Abhiyan that led the historic agitation against the Regional Plan.

He was also involved in students’ movement of ‘80s.

People from different walks of life paid tributes to him at his Madgao residence.
