New under construction Mandovi bridge pier catches fire

The 33rd pier of the new Mandovi Bridge caught fire on Friday afternoon. Fire fighters rushed to the spot immediately after the incident was reported and the fire was doused moments after. No casualties were reported.

 The incident was reported at 2.13 in the afternoon. Hessian cloth on the top of the pole caught fire  due to short circuit in cable of construction machinery. Two vehicles of the fire brigade quickly controlled the flames immediately.
