Is Girish frontrunner for Goa Cong chief?

For all practical purposes Rahul Gandhi is the next Congress President as he was the only nominee.

Goa too is to have a new unit president. But here there are aspirants. Four in total, Girsih Chodankar, Yatish Naik, Francisco Sardinha and Ravi Naik.

The present state unit president is Shantaram Naik. One can never rule the former MP out.  

Two are young in years but old in politics. And the other two veteran and experienced war horses.

One - Girish Chodankar, a teacher by profession and the present frontrunner - has been in Rahul Gandhi’s core group for the past few years.

Yatish Naik, a lawyer, is active in state political and social circles. The other two Francisco Sardinha and Ravi Naik are former chief ministers and seasoned campaigners.

And both are former presidents. Both have been associated with the Congress for a very long time.

However, both the official announcements decision will only be announced by the 19 of December.
