Congress on Thursday charged that coal transported through Goa is being used for steel plants and not to generate electricity as chief minister Manohar Parrikar has claimed.

The Congress also showed documents to prove that the Bharatiya Janata Party brought coal to Goa and not the Congress.

On Thursday, Congress MLA Alex Reginaldo Lourenco said that they have all the documents to prove that the BJP brought coal to Goa.

Reginaldo said that CM Parrikar is bluffing Goans.

Reginaldo explained to media people how Parrikar has falsely blamed Congress party for getting coal to Goa.

He also said that coal has made Goans suffer due to pollution.

However, Goa Forward Party is of the opinion that coal cannot be completely stopped.

The party is against open handling of coal and has asked the government to check the pollution levels at every stage of the coal transportation.
