GTDC threatens to bring in Uber, Ola-type apps if taxis strike

If the taxi operators go ahead with their strike and bring a bad name to Goa, Government will be forced to bring in Uber or Ola -type of services.



This was the strong message given by Goa Tourism Development Corporation chairman.

The Government, on the other hand, has invoked Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1988 and prohibited the strike with immediate effect.

The Aam Aadmi Party meanwhile has criticized the government for threatening taxi operators.

GTDC chairman Nilesh Cabral appealed taxi operators not to go on strike. He said he has evidence cabbies charging tourists exorbitantly and will reveal it at the right time.

Colva Tourist Association is supporting the taxi strike. They criticized the government for bringing in several regulations such as the drive against tinted glasses, high-security number plates, etc and soon forgetting about them

Aam Aadmi Party has criticized the government threatening the taxi operators for going on strike.
