Govt defying court, felling trees & covering it up at Mopa: Samiti

According to the Samiti, the trees are cut despite the court order not to cut it. The authorities have also demolished two houses.

Secretary ofMopa Vimantal Pidit Xetkari Samiti Sandeep Kambli said the day after the trees were felled, officials from the Forest Department arrived and pretended to write a report but in fact advised the GMR officials to erase the evidence of tree felling by digging out the roots of the trees.

Sandeep also questioned the arbitrary demolition of the two houses belonging to Suresh Talkatkar and Narayan Salgaokar at ShemecheAdvan.

he said the demolition is a plan of action of the government to frighten the local population.
