BJP-Cong Dhiryo over stray cattle, arrest of Sarpanch demanded

Politicians don’t require larger issues to fight their petty battles. In Tivim, former BJP MLA Kiran Kandolkar has made the issue of stray cattle to hit out at sitting Congress MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar.

Since the local panchayat is with the Congress, the BJP leader has even called the sarpanch and his panchas 'goondas'. And he wants them to be arrested.

The issue was related to the Tivim panchayat siding the farmers, whose fields were destroyed by the stray cattle.

As the panchayat insisted to fine the cattle owners, Kandolkar marched to the Mapusa police station along with BJP supporters and the cattle owners.

He also lodged a complaint against the Tivim panchayat for allegedly tying up the cattle and trying to extort money from the cattle owners. 

The sarpanch however denied that they were involved in the tying up of the cattle. She said the cattle were tied up by the farmers themselves.
