Locals of Quelossim upset

Tension prevailed in Quelossim village on Monday as villagers were upset with Archives and Archaeology department officials after they demolished a portion of the concrete plinth in front of the ruins of Shree Shantadurga temple. The locals think they should have been consulted.

Villagers gathered at the ruins of Shree Shantadurga temple in Quelossim.

They have demanded explanations from the officials of Shree Shantadurga Sausthan, Kawale Ponda as well as of the Archives and Archaeology department.

Locals also claimed that though the site is a protected site it was neglected by the Sausthan and Archives and Archaeology department.

After discussions, it was decided that a joint meeting with all stakeholders would be called to resolve the issue.
