Final call on Bainginim land transfer at Wed CCP meet

The Corporation of the City of Panjim has once again said it would not transfer the Baingini land to the government for the garbage treatment plant.



But a formal decision in this regard would be taken on Wednesday. 

The CCP is ready to sign an MOU with the government to treat  the garbage, but not to transfer the land.

Also on the condition that the garbage of only Panaji, Taleigao and Old Goa would be treated there. 

 The Mayor said that he had asked for 3-4 days to get a legal opinion on the matter.

He said that now that he had a legal opinion he would hold an emergency meeting and decide and a final decision would be taken.

The CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado said that they want the garbage treatment plant but going as per their legal opinion they would not transfer the land.

The CCP has received a letter from the government asking it to transfer around one lakh seventy one thousand square mts to the government.

However, the mayor said that there were no details about the timing to set up the plant or anything else in theta letter.
