Babu forced Mopa dhangars to transfer land: Mopa farmers

The Mopa Vimantall Xetkari Piditt Samiti alleged that local MLA and Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar has forced 14 Dhangar families to sign away their rights on Mopa airport land. This was contrary to the National Green Tribunal order on the matter.

 It has also alleged that the recent transfer of land by the government to the Mopa concessionaire  is completely illegal.

The SamitiSandipKambli told the media that the NGT had specifically asked the government not to take any decision on these dhangar families before the case was decided by it.

But the government in a bid to browbeat the families got them to sign away their rights he claimed.

Kambli said that even this was illegal as the format was wrong and there were no seals on the papers where the signatures were taken by Babu who is the local MLA besides being a cabinet minister.

Kambli also alleged that the transfer of land as announced recently by the government was illegal as the proper procedure had not been followed for the mutation process.

The Samiti has been engaged in a running battle with the government on the Mopa acquisition issue. According to Kambli there are two cases pending in the NGT and one in the Supreme Court on this Mopa issue.
