20 illegal houses demolished in Quepem

Around 20 illegal houses were demolished at Pedamol in Quepem on Tuesday. The houses were built on Quepem comunidade land.



They number 146 in total. Some owners have appealed to the administrative tribunal of the communidade.

The owners of the demolished houses have alleged that they had paid money to the communidade attorney.

Deputy Collector of Salcete Paresh Faldessai said they had received orders to demolish 20 illegal  houses.  He said there were 146 illegal houses but some of the occupants have appealed to the administrative tribunal of the communidade.

The deputy collector said the occupants of these houses had applied for water and electricity connections but he had filed objections with the PWD.

The owners of the house alleged that they had paid money to attorney of the communidade who  gave permission to construct houses.
