If guilty will be punished: CM on DIG allegations

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told reporters on Wednesday that the guilty would not be spared referring to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Vimal Gupta and allegations of bribery over closure of a departmental inquiry.

He said that prima facie there could be truth in the allegations but they had to be proved.

And that may be a difficult task. He was speaking after the cabinet briefing at the secretariat complex.

The police had suspended suspending PSI Devyani Ambekar Naik and PC Chetan Naik for allegedly attempting to bribe the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Vimal Gupta to close a departmental enquiry against her.

Gupta has been relieved by the state government. He was holding charge of Coastal Security.
