19 lakhs worth gold found abandoned on plane

Goa customs at Dabolim International Airport found 696 grams of gold abandoned on a Air India flight that arrived in Goa from Dubai on Wednesday morning.



The gold was all worth 19 lakh rupees.

Custom officials were on a regular sweep of the Air India flight AI994 after it landed at the Dabolim International airport.

During the inspection officers rummaged the aircraft and found one small pouch containing 6 10 tola gold bars weighing 696 gms in the aircraft seat pocket.

The gold found was worth 19 lakh rupees.

The gold was seized under the provision of section 110 and 111 of the Customs Act.

The Daboli airport has seen many such seizures in the recent past.
