Twin incidents mar bridge work in state

On Tuesday one of the huge construction cranes working at the New Mandovi bridge crashed into the river.And on Wednesday another crane at the construction of the new Zuari bridge toppled over.

Luckily no causalities were reported through the operator of the Mandovi bridge had a proverbial escape as he had to jump from the cabin before the huge crane toppled over and sunk.

On Tuesday night the construction of the NH66 flyover over the river Mandovi came to a standstill.

Technical faults caused one of the cranes to collapse and fall into the river. This is the fourth incident at the Mandovi bridge construction site within the last two years.

Last month one of the cranes rammed into a commuter on the bridge. Another incident took place where an under construction pillar collapsed on one of the workers.
