Two houses were damaged in Davorlim after a tree got uprooted and collapsed on them on Thursday.

This has become almost a routine happening in the state. There are hurdles to cut down trees that pose danger to households.

There are instances of house having been completely damaged and inmates killed or injured.

To avoid further destruction of houses and deaths the authorities need to be proactive to save lives and property.

The local panch member in Davorlim has sought powers to trim trees as a preventive measure before a disaster strike.

There are cases where a poor family is rendered homeless after a tree fell on their house damaging it completely.

They cannot afford to shift to another house or a flat as that involves a lot of expenditure.
