Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte has ordered both the district collectors to review all the cases across Goa of the trees which are dangerous, after the Revoda tragedy.

He has also assured action against the erring officer.

The government has given immediate relief of four lakh rupees to the family who lost their 10-year old son as the banyan tree of a temple fell on the house.

The whole state of Goa was shaken up with an incident of a banyan tree of a temple falling on a house and killing an 10-year old boy. Simply because the temple committee didn’t cut the tree while the deputy collector sat on a case for over two years.

Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte visited the site on Tuesday, met the aggrieved family and gave a cheque of 4 lakh rupees under natural calamity, as a first instalment.

He then told the media what steps he intends to take so that such incidents don’t repeat.

But the Revodkar family was not at all satisfied with the monetary help.

The young girl Dipti in fact cried out at Rohan and asked whether the government can get her cousin Samarth back.

She feels that their repeated requests to cut the tree was neglected because they belong to scheduled cast.

The temple committee, who did not bother to cut the banyan tree, still continues to give different reasons for the tragedy.

One of them is that the Revodkar families did not come to them but went to the deputy collector.
