Old Borim bridge poses life-threat, navigation banned at high tide

The old Portuguese era bailey bridge is posing danger to the locals of Bori, especially the fishermen and the sand extractors.



Two more spans and three pillars of this bridges collapsed recently.

People are demanding that this old bridge be replaced with a new bailey bridge for light vehicles.


The Captain of Ports has also restricted navigation from there only during high  tide. 

Borim Panch member Costancio Luis said on Saturday the two spans and three pillars of broken bridge had collapsed.

Luckily the fishermen as well as workers Extracting sand escaped as this took place late at night.

The bailey bridge at Borim had been erected after the original had been bombed by the retreating Portuguese forces during the liberation of Goa.
