The incessant sudden rains in past 48 hours have led to heavy damage across the state.

People of low lying areas of Bicholi and Sankhali are concerned as the rise in level of Bicholi and Valvanti river have led to fear of occurrences of flood.

Heavy rains have lashed the state from last 48 hours.

A retaining wall behind a residential complex collapsed in Merces on Tuesday afternoon.

Local sarpanch and panch members inspected the site on Wednesday.

Soil near the collapsed wall has become soft thus posing danger to the residential building in front of this collapsed wall.

People from Bicholim and Sankhali are scared because of rise in level of rivers Bicholi and valvanti in both the towns.

They fear a possibility of occurrence of flood, however the Water Resources Department officials say there is no danger.

Local MLA Rajesh Patnekar raised the issue in assembly on Wednesday during the Zero Hour.

Meanwhile a huge tree had collapsed on Wednesday in the afternoon at Gulem on Margao Cancona on national highway 17 near the Bhumipurush temple.

Traffic remained closed for almost an hour. Because of the block the fire brigade could not reach the site.

The locals then themselves trimmed the branches of the tree and cleared the block.
