A portion of a hill has been excavated at Chicalim to widen NH17 A. But the loosened soil is on the verge of triggering landslides, thus endangering the lives of motorists.

Due to incessant rains since last few days, a huge boulder from the excavation portion of the hill came crashing down on Tuesday morning,

Luckily, the boulder that came down stopped in the road setback area on the  Cortalim – Vasco road.

The PWD authorities have excavated the hill portions at several stretches on this road.

The PWD, however, has not built retaining walls. The incident created fear and anger among the road users and other concerned residents of Dabolim
