Black Wed claims 2 more lives on Verna by-pass in different accidents

It was a Black Wednesday, claiming two lives in two different accidents on Verna by-pass.



In both the cases, the speeding vehicles dashed the two wheelers. A 38-year old contractor and a 25-year old girl were knocked down to death by a bus and a truck.


Locals are now planning a protest, demanding speed breakers on the road.

 In the  morning accident,  38-year old contractor  Salman Ahmad from Matol in Verna was crushed to death by a speeding bus. By evening, a vehicle carrying gas cylinders knocked down a scooterist.


The 25-year old pillion rider Aishwarya Salelkar died on the spot. Her 64-year odl father Pradeep is presently being treated at the GMC hospital. 


The furious locals from Majorda, Nuvem and Verna came on the road. They are now planning a protest.

 


The incidents were brought to the notice of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the evening. He said measures are being taken to address the situation.
