Shack owners threaten to go to court if not paid compensation

Shack owners of Goa have threatened to approach the court if government does not give them compensation for delay in allotting shacks.



Chief Minister has not given any assurance. But he has said they are free to go to the court. After delaying the process for a over a month , tourism department on Friday allotted shacks.

All the applicants for the beach shacks all over Goa had gathered at Paryatan Bhavan on Friday.

The department called the applicants area wise and allotted shacks through lots.

The government has decided to continue with the same number of shacks except three at Pallollem in Kankon.

It would be thus 259 in North Goa and 105 in the South.

One of the shack owners Seby D’Souza said they would demand compensation only after they get shack license in their hands.
