Govt plans to take care of football players, Dempo to start Academy

Goa government is devising a scheme to create professional footballers in Goa. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has announced his plan to take care of these footballers till they retire



On the other hand, Dempo Sports Club is planning to set up a Football Academy. It has already sponsored 24 kids to encourage a new crop of footballers.


Dempo Sports Club celebrated its Golden Jubilee of 50 years on Tuesday. Besides the chief minister,


All India Football Federation President Praful Patel, Goa ministers and MLAs also attended the gala function.


At the initiative of its president Shrinivas Dempo, 50 footballers of Dempo Sports Club were felicitated at the hands of chief minister Parrikar.


AIFF President and former union minister Praful Patel appreciated the contribution of Goan Clubs like Dempo and Salgaocar to the Indian football.


He also said that Goa was an important venue of the FIFA under 17 world cup taking off in October.


Industrialist and football promoter Shrinivas Dempo also announced plans of Dempo Sports Club to start a Football Academy in Goa.
