Paddy harvest feast was celebrated at Our Lady of The Snows Church in Raia on Saturday.

The feast is known locally as Konsachem Fest named after the sheaves of rice.

The feast indicates that the new paddy is ready for harvesting.

Raia is a small village on the outskirts of Margao. The local church draws hundreds of Hindu and Christian devotees from all round the state for the harvest feast.

New harvest is an occasion of joy. Its significance is that a family has provision for the whole year and more and therefore it’s time to celebrate.
