The Housing Board had developed plots in Srishtal village in Cancona taluka in 1989. Even though 63 out of the 80 plots were booked the allotment process could not be completed because of some reason.

The Housing Board wants a better rate for the land; the people who had booked the plots, however, want to pay the old rate.

Some of those who have been allotted plots even constructed houses in their plots.

The plots were then  sold for 1700 rupees per square metre. The current rate however is 4,000 rupees per square metre.

Some of those who had booked the plots have refused to pay the current rate of 4,000 rupees per square metre.

Housing Board Minister Jayesh Salgaokar however has promised to auction the remaining 17 plots and fix the land price based on this.
