Eduardo bats for primary education in mother tongue

Former union minister and veteran Congressman Eduardo Faleiro reiterated that primary education should be imparted in mother tongue of the students.

He even called upon the Diocesan Society of Education to switch over to vernacular medium for primary education in its  schools.

Eduardo said it is not enough to switch over to Konkani or Marathi medium for primary education, there should be quality education. He said for this to happen  teachers should be trained well.

Eduardo’s advice flies in the face of Congress party’s stand that parents are the best judges to choose the medium of instruction for their children.

Eduardo also is in favour of promoting  Indian culture. He said organisations such as West Zone Cultural Centre, Spic Macay and Intach   should be roped in to do this.
