What apology? We should be proud a Goan is ruling Portugal: Parsekar

Rather than demanding apology from today’s prime minister of Portugal for the 1961 destruction, Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar says we should be proud that a Goan has started ruling Portugal.

He has also said that Portuguese Civil Code is the biggest gift of Portugal to Goa.

This is the first time prime minister of Portugal Antonio Costa is visiting Goa, which is the state of his origin. He arrived on Tuesday night, when Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza welcomed him at the Dabolim airport. He met CM Laxmikant Parsekar and DyCM D’Souza on Wednesday morning. Later, he visited the Portuguese Language Centre in Panaji and also the Institute of Menezes Braganza. CM Parsekar said they could not discuss much because of election code of conduct.

The media raised the issue of the demand  made by some political groups that prime minister Antonio Costa should apologise to Goans for the destruction Portuguese made in 1961 before leaving the state. Chief Minister Parsekar as well as Deputy CM D’Souza have dismissed this demand.
