Vishwajeet to widen scope for nurses' recruitment; to curtail nurses going on long leave

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that recruitment of nurses was done as per RR rules and most of those recruited were Goans except in the cardiology department.



He said that he was looking to amending the RR rules to increase the scope of who could be recruited. Vishwajeet said he would also try and help those nurses who have worked on contract for a long time to get absorbed.

The minister was replying to a question by Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on nurses hired by the Health department and whether they are Goans. To the follow-up question on contract workers,  he said he was looking as to

However, he did not promise that those nurses working on contract would be given a priority while recruiting as procedures had to be followed.

The health minister also promised to address the concerns of Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo on the increased scope of work at the Aldona Primary Health Centre.

The health minister said that there were a lot of nurses who had taken leave and were working abroad.

He said that the department was looking at curtailing this except when it involves honing one’s skills.
