Within three hours after taking oath as a new MLA, he resigned as the MLA as well as from the primary membership of the party.
He is planning to contest a by-election and support the BJP-led government of Manohar Parrikar.
Vishwajeet Rane took an oath at around noon on Friday, along with his other 38 colleagues.
But when chief minister Manohar Parrikar moved a confidence vote, he walked out of the House, defying the party whip. By 3 o’ clock in the afternoon, he submitted his resignation as the MLA. Pro-tem speaker Siddharth Kunkolkar confirmed that his resignation was accepted.
Vishwajeet now blames his party leadership for his summersault.
The opposition Congress was shocked with the news and they kept the media waiting before giving any reaction.
And this is the way they reacted after receiving Vishwajeet’s resignation even from the party’s primary membership.
