Congress leader Girish Chodankar has made a serious allegation against those who are opposing the entry of sixth casino in river Mandovi.

According to him, it is the lobby of the existing five casinos which is putting up these people as a front to oppose it.

Goa Forward Minister Vijai Sardesai has said he would try and block the entry of the sixth casino.

According to All India Congress Committee Secretary Girish Chodankar, the existing five casinos would lose a revenue of 20 crore rupees per day if the sixth casino enters river Mandovi.

He has also claimed that casinos earn around 5000 crore rupees per year, but Goa government gets hardly 300 crore rupees.

The sixth casino is entering river Mandovi as per the high court order, which the Goa government has agreed to.

But Goa Forward minister Vijai Sardesai says the court has not ‘ordered’ to locate in the river, but has just ‘asked’ the government to consider it.

He thus plans to press and block the entry of this casino.

Vijai Sardesai is also of the opinion that all the so called offshore casinos in the river should be shifted on the land since it is not possible to take them into the deep sea. But Girish feels this would be yet another blow to Goenkarponn.
