Tribals to get cultivation rights in forest by Dec

There is a good news for the tribals living in the forest. Goa government has decided to implement the Tribal Forest Act by December this year.

This would help in protecting tribals’ land in the forest.

Tribal Welfare Minister Govind Gaude on Monday said that the centre has already implemented the act.

Once this act is implemented in Goa, the cultivators cultivating in the forest would get total protection. They have been cultivating this land for over several decades now.

Gaude is a tribal activist who has now become a minister. He was on the forefront in the agitation which turned violent in Balli on 25th May 2011.

His department has now joined hands with the United Tribal Association Alliance to observe this day as the Prerna Day – the Inspiration Day. It would be held on 25th May at Rajiv Kala Mandir in Ponda.
