Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik is all set to take over as the new president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, but as interim arrangement. Congress is going for organizational elections very soon.

Shantaram’s tenure as the MP is ending this month.

Sources in the Congress House told Goa365 that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi accepted Luizinho Faleiro’s resignation while also clearing Shantaram’s name to replace him.

However, the official announcement is yet to be made. Names of Ramakant Khalap and Yatish Naik were also recommended. AICC Secretary Girish Chodankar did not confirm the name but gave all indications that it would be Shantaram.

Congress has also countered the inaction by the airport authorities in filing FIR about BJP national president Amit Shaha’s meeting at the Dabolim airport.

Congress activist Janardan Bhandari has officially sought permission of the Airport Authority to hold his wedding reception in the same place in September.
