The Congress on Monday criticized the ordinance issued by the BJP Rajasthan government on freedom of press.

GPCC President Shantaram Naik alleged that this order is unconstitutional and betrayal of the nation.

Naik also said that this ordinance was meant to protect the Rajasthan CM Vansundhara Raje.

The recently promulgated ordinance amends two provisions in the CrPc which deal with initiation of investigations: Section which deals with the power of the police to investigate cognizable offences and section 190 which deals with the power of Magistrate to take cognizance of offences and order inquiries.

Shantaram also accused the Government of still not delegating any powers to village panchayats in the state.

He wanted the Government to meet all the panchas and discuss with them about the delegation of powers. He also wants special training to the panchayat secretaries.
