Parrikar sworn in with 9 ministers, GF gets 3 berths

Manohar Parrikar was sworn in as the 28th chief minister of Goa on Tuesday along with nine more ministers.



He is being sworn in for the fourth time. He said the portfolios would be allotted after the confidence vote scheduled on Thursday.

 Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah as well as union ministers Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari and JP Nadda attended the swearing in ceremony held on the lawns of the Raj Bhavan. Parrikar inducted nine ministers with Goa Forward taking the largest share of the cake with  three ministerial berths.

The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and independents got two berths each. Only Francis D’Souza and Pandurang Madkaikar  were inducted from the BJP. However, the top party leaders of Goa Forward including Prabharak Timble who resigned as the president, general secretary Mohandas Lolienkar and chief spokesperson Prashant Naik boycotted the swearing in.

 After the ceremony, Parrikar told the media that he would prepare a Common Minimum Programme within a month.

He also said that he would distribute portfolios after seeking a confidence vote on Thursday.
