19 May 2017 08:51 PM

Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party has taken offensive stand on Rajya Sabha election scheduled on 8th June.

The partner of the BJP-led coalition government is not ruling out the possibility of fielding their own candidate.

MGP’s undisputed leader and minister Sudin Dhawalikar is not speaking the coalition language.

According to him, nobody can stop them from fielding the candidate since they had fought Assembly elections separately.

Goa365 asked him whether there is possibility of MGP fielding its own candidate. And this is what he said:

Rajya Sabha election dates are already announced as sitting MP Shantaram Naik’s term is ending on 28th of July.

The newly elected Goa Assembly would vote for a new Rajya Sabha MP. Neither the BJP nor the Congress have announced their candidates.

This is the election schedule. The notification would be out on 22nd May. Last date of filing nominations is 29th May. Scrutiny on 30th May and withdrawal on 1st June.

Polling would be held in the Assembly hall on 8th June from 9 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon. And counting at 5 in the evening.
