The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party finally sent a letter to the Governor on Thursday, withdrawing their support to the BJP government.

The party will now align with the Goa Suraksha Manch, with Sudin Dhawalikar as the chief ministerial candidate. They plan to contest 22 seats.

As soon as the Assembly election was announced on Wednesday, the MGP’s central executive met the next day to officially withdraw the support.

The meeting also set up the Parliamentary Board with Sudin Dhawalikar as its chairman, to choose the candidates. Party president Dipak Dhawalikar said they had already identified 18 candidates.
