Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has once again mooted the idea of forming common cadre of panchayat workers.

Mainly to stop their domination in panchayats and make it possible to transfer them.

He claims the union has agreed. But some sarpanchas have opposed it.

It was a function organised by South Goa Zilla Panchayat to launch Swatchch Bharat project and felicitate their ZPs Clefacio Dias and Wilfred D’Sa as MLAs.

Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho as well as South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar graced the function.

Mauvin spoke his mind on common cadre in his speech and later elaborated on it while speaking to the media.

Many sarpanchas as well as ZP members supported the idea. But some sarpanchas have opposed it tooth and nail.

One member, in fact, reminded that this was once announced by former chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
