Mahila Congress, students demand waiving of GST on sanitary napkins

Congress’smahilawing, students want 12% GST on sanitary napkins reduced. Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho said that sanitary napkins were a necessity for women and GST needs to be removed from such products.

Pratima said that this is completely wrong on the part of the government to apply GST for such products.

She said that given that these are a necessity even for every girl and women and the government should give some subsidy on these sanitary napkins.

A student SimranMalkarnekarsaid spoke to media about her difficulty due to the imposition of GST on such products and also difficulty in buying sanitary napkins as the cost has increased.
