But within a week, he now says his department would try and install at least 90 per cent lights before Chovoth.

Madkaikar held a meeting with the engineers and other staff of the Electricity Department in Madgao on Friday  to acquaint himself with the problems in South Goa.

The MLAs had raised these issues during Assembly session.

He also plans to hold a similar meeting in North Goa next week.

Madkaikar also discussed the issue of Cuncolim Industrial Estate.

The industrialists had threatened to agitate if frequent power break downs in the estate had not stopped.
