The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has gone offensive on Congress leader Girish Chodankar.

The police has filed FIR against him and the BJP has sent him defamation notice. They want Girish to apologise for his allegation of 1000 crore rupees exchanging hands in forming the government.

The media is also agitated because they are also made party in the FIR.

Panaji police have filed FIR against All India Congress Committee Secretary Girish Chodankar, based on a complaint filed by Goa’s BJP President Vinay Tendulkar.

The main ground was the allegation made by Girish that lobbies of Goa’s casinos and Delhi’s businessmen have spent 1000 crore rupees tdo form the BJP-led coalition government. Following this,

Tendulkar has now also served notice to Girish to file defamation. The notice urges Girish to apologise.

On the other hand, the media is irked because Tendulkar has also made all the newspapers and TV channels party to the complaint by adding another section 501 of the Indian Penal Code.

The section relates to printing defamatory matter, for which  the punishment is two years of simple imprisonment.

The Goa Union of Journalists does not want to take this matter lightly though the offence is non-cognisable.

After the news of objection raised by GUJ President Sadguru Patil spread on the social media, chief minister Manohar Parrikar personally phoned Patil and assured him toget thesection 501 delete from the FIR on Monday.
