Goa BJP to mobilise max support for President of India election

India’s lawmakers will elect new President of India on 17th of July.



The counting will be held on 20th July. Goa’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is hopeful of getting support of its alliance partners and increase the percentage of votes.


  Election Commission of India has notified the schedule of Presidential election. The nominations would be accepted till 28th of June, scrutiny on 29th June, withdrawals by 1st of July, election on 17th July and counting of votes on 20th July.

 Goa has three MPs and 38 MLAs. Vishwajeet Rane and Sidharth Kunkolkar have resigned as the MLAs. Each MP has 708 votes while each MLA has 20 votes.

The Congress has one Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik and 16 Congress MLAs. The BJP has 2 MPs and 11 MLAs. Besides these, the BJP is trying to mobilise votes of the rest 11 MLAs in favour of the BJP candidate for the President’s post. Provided, there would be election.
