Goa Assembly poll on 4 Feb, counting on 11 March after polling in 5 states

The election dates of 5 states are finally announced. Goa will go for Assembly election on 4th of February, along with Punjab



Counting would be held together on 11th of Marchafter polling gets over of all the five states. Therefore Goans will have to wait for over a month for the results.

VO1: Everything is a one month wait for the Goans. The election is exactly one month away and also the result, 35 days after the polling.

The nominations would begin on 11th of January with a notification and candidates would get hardly 12 days for campaign after the final list of candidates is announced on 21st of January.

Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi announced the dates of Goa election in Delhi on Wednesday.

Goa, Punjab and Uttarakhand will have single phase elections. Manipur will have election in two phases while Uttar Pradesh will have it in seven phases. Punjab will have polling on the same day as Goa. 4th of February.Uttarakhand on 15th of February.Manipur in two phases – 4th and 8th of March.And Uttar Pradesh in seven phases – 11th, 15th, 19th 23rd and 27th February and 4th and 8th March.

Chief Election Commissioner also said that the Commission would monitor on day-to-day basis the fallouts of demonetisation and if any candidate is involved in other corrupt practices since there is no black money available.

With the Supreme Court judgement, the Commission will also be more careful this time about any candidate misusing caste, creed, religion or language.
