GPCC President Shantaram Naik has questioned the shifting of Goa from the West Zone of the National Green Tribunal to the principal bench in Delhi.

He said the union Ministry of Environment and Forests should explain to the people of Goa the rationale behind this shifting.

Goa which hitherto was under the West Zone of the National Green Tribunal has been brought under the principal bench  of the NGT in Delhi.

Shantaram termed this as  harassment and torture of  the people of Goa and the environmentalists.

He questioned as to who has given the consent from the state government side and  said If consent is not given the government should inform the people.

Shantaram called for testing of Mandovi waters by the NIO.  He also wondered that if Lucky Seven casino vessel grounded at Miramar has to be dismantled who will be responsible for the tremendous pollution that will be caused there.

The GPCC president asked why no FIR has been filed in this regard.
